There are a lot of fitness gyms in our town. We’ve already moved thrice from apartment to apartment and I realized that there’s always a gym within the area where we moved in. Going home every afternoon from school, I usually look at this glass door of a fitness gym located at the corner of the street. I know people inside would get to see me looking at myself so sometimes I just take a quick glance, not being obvious. I’m not the kind of girl that looks at herself in every mirror or glass windows but I always find myself looking at those glass doors of that gym. I wonder why many people would go to the gym even though they have hectic schedules and why do they do it frequently like twice or thrice a week. You see, 24 hours a day is really too short to accommodate other things like hobbies, leisure or anything aside from work or school. Plus, if you want to lose weight, you can always join companies like weightwatchers or jenny craig right? There are always more important things to do especially at the end of the semester or even just chasing deadlines set by terror professors. I never really realized it until I tried it myself.
After waiting for a month, my application has been finally approved and I was accepted being an intern in this particular company. I just started two weeks ago. Though I was pretty well knowledgeable about some of their facilities I still underwent a formal orientation, company tour followed after three days. I was well informed about what I can access being an intern. I was really surprised that aside from being able to access excellent facilities, I was able to use and explore their fitness gym. A superb bonus! I am familiar with gym equipment, I’ve seen a lot of them in movies or television show but I’ve never had firsthand experience because I’ve never been inside a real gym before. I wondered how some of the equipment work so I just tried two most common gears, the treadmill and the bikes.
It was fun! I got to know a lot of people from other department and made new friends. The facilitators and gym instructors are very friendly and accommodating. Gym activities will really make you sweat and tiring (at first) but actually it is refreshing. You just have to do stretching before going full time action. It is not just about getting sweat or reaching that goal of losing weight. There’s really more to it. I became energetic to do laboratory works. I can stay at the lab for 13 hours or more. Well of course, going to gym requires time and effort but the benefits you get from it are way more than the sacrifices. My mental status is very active that made me think better ideas for research experiments as well as calmness to crazy situations.
And one more thing, hitting the gym is not entirely about using the equipment. There are a lot of activities that you can try like aerobics, dancercise and others. Every gym offers different lessons so visit the gym and inquire for membership. Find a gym most convenient to you and get the courses you are most interested in so that registration fees will not be put into waste. Grab a pen and register NOW!
